About the Author
J.H. Williams entered the comics field in 1991 and immediately began getting attention for his finely crafted work on such titles as Batman, Starman and Seven Soldiers of Victory. William's went on to co-create and pencil the hit series PROMETHEA with comics legend Alan Moore. His recent works include writing and drawing the critically acclaimed DC—The New 52 title BATWOMAN as well as drawing Neil Gaiman's return to the legendary SANDMAN series.

Kate and the monsters

I've been following Kate Kane since her debut in 52. No, not the new 52, but the groundbreaking 52 week event that defined DC for years to come. I've followed Kate through her incredible stint in Batwoman: Elegy Detective Comics and was extremely excited to hear that she was getting her own series in the New 52. Batwoman Vol. 1: Hydrology (The New 52) and Batwoman Vol. 2: To Drown the World (The New 52) did not disappoint, but this volume takes the incredible work done in the two previous installments and ties it together beautifully in this entertaining, and very satisfying story.
This volume brings Wonder Woman into the mix, to great effect. For someone following Azzarello's excellent series Wonder Woman, Vol. 1: Blood (The New 52) I was afraid that this iteration would be too different. Thankfully Williams and Blackman do a great job integrating her into Batwoman's world.
As Always, J.H. Williams astounds with his beautiful visuals. I was glad to note that while they are just as gorgeous as in previous volumes, they were much easier to follow in this one, eliminating the only problem I've ever really had with the series.
Another highlight of the series is the relationship between Kate and Maggie, making DC's recent actions all the more painful. In light of DC's frequent and progress halting "editorial changes", Williams and Blackman have decided to step down from Batwoman. A plot line they planned to implement, which had been green lit by DC months before, was shot down last minute, prompting the creators to leave the book. Worse yet, DC has decided to not let them finish their run. While that tidbit won't affect your enjoyment of THIS volume, I feel it fair to warn any potential readers as to the ultimate fate of this excellent story.
Batwoman continues to be a genre defining series in the comics best volume yet. If you enjoyed the previous volumes, this one is even better. I highly recommend this book, but suggest that you be familiar with the series, if not having outright read everything leading up to it, before you buy this and dive in. An most definite buy.

A Magnificent Adventure of Wonder Woman

Batwoman realizes that the "Medusa" she has been fighting for lo these many issues is not an organization, but the Gorgon. She tracks down DC's specialist in mythology, Wonder Woman, and, after a couple of adventures in Greek mythology land, return to Gotham. There they find Medusa and her recruits in a full-fledged invasion / rite designed to revive Ceto, first goddess of the sea, and the mother of monsters. The ensuing melee, magnificently drawn, involves every character, good, bad, and in-between, that has figured in the first two volumes of Batwoman. The battle ends with Gotham saved, missing children returned, Medusa turned to stone (how original) and Ceto risen but forgiven and protected by Wonder Woman. Oh, yeah, and Batwoman proposes to her Lesbian lover on the police force.
A magnificent adventure of Wonder Woman. However, if you were to ask me what an adventure of Batwoman looked like, I'm not to sure.

Covering issues #0, 12-17, Wonder Woman joins Batwoman in this third volume of her newly-revamped series and the last book in the story to rescue the kidnapped children from Maro! As Batwoman digs deeper into the mythological quest to find the kids, she finds that she's up against a Greek myth and she needs a Greek demigod to help her! This time, everyone's involved and new menacing monsters are discovered and secrets are out!
Firstly, like the other two books, J.H. Williams III loves to create some really neat splash pages. Although this is a nice hardcover like the other volumes, it's still glued and a lot of the spreads are lost in the gutter of the book. A sewn-binding or even an omnibus consisting of these first three volumes would be nice. Otherwise, the art is fantastic and gory as always making you gaze in the beauty of some panels and gag at the disgust of others. The writing by Williams and W Hayden Blackman work really well in wrapping this long storyline up. This volume isn't half as confusing as the other two and Wonder Woman is written very well. The dialogue at times is hard to decipher with some pages having several different characters narrating and leaving you to figure out what font belongs to which character but you catch onto it quickly. It was a great story and the zero issue, placed after issue 12, worked well in giving a bit of background information on Kate and her relationship with her father. The extras aren't anything to write home about but are neat to look at. Overall, a nice presentation for a good Batwoman story that isn't tied into the Death of the Family arc that invaded all the other Bat-stories.
